Onyx Dial
Each dial is a subtle work of art. Integrating a variety of colors, gloss, textures, and decorative elements with the overall design style, it gives the watch a unique personality. All aspects of dial design and production are carried out in-house at Rolex. From the initial sketches to the final inspection, including coloring and marking embellishments, a series of steps and operations in the entire process contain Rolex-specific expertise. These include the exquisite craftsmanship inherited from the watchmaking industry for many years, such as enamel glazing, and modern advanced technologies such as magnetron cathode sputtering. Magnetron sputtering refers to a sophisticated technology that deposits a thin film in a vacuum environment to color the surface of the dial. The manufacture of Rolex dials requires a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology, vividly interpreting the essence of the brand's philosophy: the pursuit of excellence in quality, to achieve exquisite flawless, lasting and charming effects.

Triangular fluted outer ring
Rolex's triangular pit pattern is a feature of the brand's watches. At first, the triangular pit pattern of the Oyster outer ring had practical purposes, helping to screw the outer ring tightly to the case and ensure the waterproof performance of the watch. The pit pattern design of the bottom cover is also based on the same consideration, and is screwed to the case position with a specific Rolex tool. Later, the triangular pit pattern evolved into an aesthetic design element, which can be regarded as the iconic feature of Rolex. Today, the triangular pit pattern has become a feature of the brand's watches. The outer ring of this day-date 40 is made of gold.
