Rolex unveils its first high-tech ceramic watch.

This new green Cerachrom ceramic component is equipped with the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II 18K white gold model released this year. The winding crown is located on the left side of the case and the calendar window is located at 9 o'clock.

The new Cerachrom ceramic surface is produced in the same way as the natural gemstone surface. It requires covering the material on the brass base plate to present the same green tone as the lower part of the green and black two-color Cerachrom ceramic word circle.

The new GMT-Master II is paired with an Oyster strap and Oyster safety clasp.

The GMT-Master II is equipped with the 3285 movement, which is an advanced watchmaking technology. It can display the time in another time zone in a 24-hour format, and can also accurately display the hours, minutes, seconds and date.

One watch, multiple time zones
When the GMT-Master was first launched, it was intended to help professional pilots use their watches to assist in navigation during long-distance flights. After that, this watch gradually became the favorite choice of travelers. The watch has a unique design and is easy to identify. It is equipped with a bidirectional rotatable outer ring and a 24-hour scale bezel. There are both single-color and multi-color bezels. The lower half represents daytime and the upper half represents nighttime. As a functional watch, GMT-Master has been continuously improved over the years and its technical performance has been increasingly enhanced. In 1982, Rolex launched the GMT-Master II, which was equipped with a movement that allowed the hour hand to be adjusted independently, unlike the other hands.

With traditional hour, minute and second hands, a triangular arrow 24-hour hand and a bidirectional rotatable outer ring with a 24-hour Cerachrom ceramic bezel, the GMT-Master II can display the time in two time zones at the same time.

High-tech ceramics
Rolex has repeatedly pioneered the development of ceramic technology, using cutting-edge technology to create watch case parts that are not only scratch-resistant, but also have durable colors and are not affected by the environment. The high-tech ceramic bezel is made of special chemicals and is extremely difficult to corrode. After years of dedicated research and development, Rolex has developed a unique set of expertise, innovative equipment and production processes, so it can produce ceramic components completely independently.

The new GMT-Master II is equipped with a bidirectional rotatable outer ring and a Cerachrom green and black two-color ceramic 24-hour scale bezel. The molded scales and numbers are plated with platinum using PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating technology. The toothed edge design of the outer ring enables the wearer to easily grasp and rotate the outer ring.

The Oyster case, a symbol of waterproofness
The GMT-Master II is equipped with a 40 mm Oyster case, the middle case of which is cast from a solid piece of Oystersteel, guaranteed to be waterproof to a depth of 100 meters (330 feet), providing the best protection for the movement and is a model of durability. The middle case is cast from a solid block of 18K white gold. The triple-lock winding crown has a triple waterproof system and is securely screwed onto the case. The crown guard is integrated into the middle case to protect the winding crown. The mirror is made of anti-reflective blue crystal and is not easily scratched. There is a small convex lens at the 3 o'clock position for easy reading of the calendar.

Oyster bracelet and Oyster safety clasp
The GMT-Master II 18K white gold model features a green Cerachrom ceramic dial and a green and black two-tone Cerachrom ceramic bezel, and is equipped with an Oyster strap.

The GMT-Master II's Oyster strap is equipped with a folding Oysterlock safety clasp to prevent the buckle from opening accidentally. The strap is also equipped with the Easylink extension system developed by Rolex, which allows the wearer to easily extend the strap by about 5 mm. The brand-designed and patented ceramic components are embedded inside, making them more flexible and durable.
Top Chronometer Certification
Like all Rolex watches, the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II is certified by the top chronometer standard established by Rolex in 2015. This unique title proves that each watch has successfully passed a series of tests conducted by Rolex laboratories. In addition, the movements of these watches are also certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The watch is tested only after it is assembled and the movement is installed in the case to ensure that the watch can perform excellent performance in terms of precision, power reserve, waterproofness and automatic winding when it is worn. The average error of Rolex's top chronometer is within plus or minus two seconds per day. The accuracy pursued by Rolex is far higher than the standards of the Swiss Official Observatory's certified chronometers.

The green seal is a symbol of top observatory precision timepieces. Every Rolex watch is accompanied by this seal and comes with a global five-year warranty.
